Going out is a Trojan horse.
It makes you weak.
All the 'networking' that 'occurs' is of no value as everyone is inebriated, which means:
A) they won't have meant what they said
&
B) they will forget the things that they didn't mean in the first place.
The best thing to do is just stay inside.
Forget the outside world exists.
It has nothing to offer you.
The things that you might find will only disappoint you.
Going out is a Trojan horse.
Most of the time you spend 'being outside' will be spent doing the following: feeling awkward, wishing you were somewhere else, avoiding people you would rather not encounter, seeing and hearing things you don't like, and generally trying but failing to be the socially successful person you planned to become while you were doing your hair in front of your mirror.
Going out is a Trojan horse.
All of the best people stay in.
Become one of the elite.
Stay indoors at all times.
It's just better that way.
You're just better off that way.

You raise some interesting points, Geoff.
May I just say that boredom is a fictional state of mind invented and self-imposed by those who follow the narrow path of shallowness.
Consider the following:
The majority of external socialising involves meaningless rambles over trivial subjects, mostly as a result of inebriation - which as you already stated has it's own problems with 'networking'.
Take away these inconsiderate notions from the average 'goer outer' and they become anxious, awkward and ultimately 'bored'. This often happens because meaningless conversation, hollow activities and toxins are systematically but effectively used to conceal a lack of social, creative and intellectual depth.
Consequently, consider the fact that one can only be bored with anything if oneself is boring (hypothetically speaking as boredom does not exist).
Those that have the strength to be part of the insular elite are completely comfortable within themselves, and could never be deeply and truly bored with themselves or anything done by their own will.
However in external social circumstances, one has to be vigilant against the crusades of the shallow.
Terry, your intelligence is a rare treat. As much as I want you for myself, like a good book, I wish for your ship to sail into the glorious distance and attain, attain, attain at will.
